Our vision is to bridge the education and digital divide, e-mancipating education and leveling the playing field for EVERYONE. Using our portfolio of services and combined history of proven university and corporate leadership, we seek to increase degree attainment beyond high school and to create pathways for career progression and workforce development in high demand career fields.

Representing "Firsts"

We are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion. Many of our students are the first in their families to earn a college degree. Grantham University counts among its commencement speakers professionals and leaders who have also achieved firsts in their fields:

  • The Honorable Sarah Steelman, noted economist and the first female State Treasurer in Missouri

  • The Honorable Kay Barnes the first female Mayor of Kansas City Missouri.

  • Mark Dupree, the first African American district attorney in the state of Kansas

  • Michelle Jones, the first female Command Sergeant Major and highest ranking African-American enlisted female in the U.S. military

  • Sylvester “Sly” James, Jr,  the first to serve 4 years in the Marines as a military policeman and the first African-American to make partner at his former law firm prior to serving as the 54th mayor of Kansas City.

Other Grantham University “Firsts” include:

  • The first 100% online institution to receive ABET accreditation for the  Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology program

  • The first institutional recipient of the W.E.B DuBois Award as a leading institution supporting education needs of the African American community.

  • United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce & Grantham form first ever partnership to offer annual scholarships.
